Following 9 years at the helm of Howick High School’s weekly boarding residence, Midmar House, our Superintendent, Mr Martin Gardner, has tendered his resignation to pursue an opportunity in the commercial sector with his son.
Along with his wife, Mrs Colleen Gardner, ‘Mr G’, as he is fondly known, has nurtured and guided the learners residing at Midmar House with compassion and kindness, providing them with an environment that is a ‘home-away-from-home’. Many happy memories have been created and shared which the pupils will carry with them for many years.
We take this opportunity to thank both Mr and Mrs Gardner for their dedication and for the heights they have enabled Midmar House to reach. We wish Mr Gardner every success and happiness in his new venture.
In our quest to find a Superintendent who will continue to provide a facility which develops and guides our resident learners with a caring and structured approach, we were privileged to interview candidates of an impressive calibre. We are pleased to advise that Mr Mark Taylor has been appointed as the Superintendent of Midmar House from January 2020.
With a National Diploma in Child and Youth Development, a Diploma in Management and Financial Development and 20 years of experience working in youth care organisations, Mr Taylor is well equipped to manage the operational aspects of Midmar House whilst providing discipline and guidance to the learners in a safe, healthy and comfortable environment.
Midmar House is a weekly boarding establishment, providing residence to Howick High School pupils who live in the surrounding local districts.
We look forward to welcoming Mr Taylor, his wife, Marianne, two daughters and son, to their residence at Midmar House.
