Howick High School uses a web-based electronic school communication system, one of the most effective ways of communicating with parents.  The communicator enables parents to read news, diaries calendar events, view photographs, access links to useful school information and documents and receive critical alerts for news that just can't wait.  Parents can customise the communications so that they receive only news that is directly relevant to them.

The communicator is availble in both Desktop and Mobile versions.   It is a lightweight application that runs on the parent's computer or mobile phone.  Information is automatically updated every time the school adds new content, even when the Communicator is not currently running.  The Communicator launches when your computer or phone is accessed so parents see school news at least once a day.  There are custom mobile applications for iPhone, Android and Blackberry.  No technical knowledge is required - a one-click installation means you are up and running in less than 30 seconds.

You can download the installer from the School Communicator website:  Windows installer is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.  Mac installer is compatible with Mac OS 10.6, 10/7 and 10.8.

Parents need to register when installing the School Communicator.  Registering allows the school to see which parents have, and have not, installed the School Communicator to enable them to ensure that all parents receive the same information in the different formats.  Your registration details will never be sold or shared with anyone else.  Any personal information shared with the School Communicator is absolutely private and may only be used by the school.  The School Communicator servers are protected by Thawte to ensure no unauthorised access of your details.

To protect computers from viruses, the School Communicator has been extensively tested, and uses public/private key encryption to ensure the authenticity of all updates.  Further safeguards are in place to prevent the School Communicator from altering any data outside of the folder into wich is has been installed.  Over 100 000 parents are already successfully using the School Communicator, both at home and work.
